For Immediate Release
US Mint begins PRISM Implementation Dulles, VA – (December 5, 2003) In November, the US Mint began the implementation of PRISM as an agency wide e-procurement solution. PRISM will be used to connect 50 users throughout the Mint via the Web and will manage all aspects of their procurement process from advance procurement planning and requisitioning to contract award/management and closeout. As part of the selection process, the Mint evaluated numerous products available for both commercial procurement as well as those with a Federal focus. The decision to select PRISM was largely based on the fact that PRISM is a COTS solution that offered all the capability the Mint required without extensive customization. The positive reputation PRISM has earned through its use in numerous Federal installations, built-in interface capability, and Compusearch’s more than 20 years of Federal procurement experience were also contributing factors in the September 2003 award. Implementation is to be fully managed by Compusearch’s Professional Services group and will include program management, functional analysis and requirements gathering and analysis. Compusearch will design and program four Mint specific forms for use in PRISM and will train the US Mint staff on system use and management. IBM will act as a sub-contractor for implementation services. About PRISM PRISM is a comprehensive e-procurement solution that offers full procurement life-cycle support from advanced acquisition planning through closeout within a single web-based application. Its comprehensive contract management capability has consistently set it apart from competitors and supports twenty-one award types prescribed by the FAR and DFARS including Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contracts and multi-vendor awards. A COTS solution that is easily customized, PRISM reduces the lead-time to implementation and smoothes the transition from previous systems. Its architecture and design allow it to be easily integrated with financial systems for functions such as funds certification and the facilitation of the obligation and de-obligation processes. PRISM is JFMIP interface compliant. Interface capabilities also include the CCR and FPDS NG. PRISM fully supports the government’s accessibility initiative and has been certified Section 508 compliant.
